blackstone in Ka'ba

Question: The Blackstone in the Ka'bah: what is its origin?

Could you please explain to me what is the meaning of the "black stone"? Why did Allah send it down from Heaven, and to which Prophet was it sent down?

The Black Stone was an archangel that was amongst the first to surrender to the will of Allah and pay allegiance to the Lordship of Allah and to the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (S), and to the Successorship of Imam Ali (AS).  For this Allah Almighty gave him the 'database' for all of His creatures who pay allegiance [to the Oneness and Lordship of Allah, the Prophethood of Rasulollah (S), and the Imamat of Imam Ali and his son-Imams (AS)]. He used to accompany Adam (AS) in the Paradise , and after Adam (AS) came down to earth, Allah sent him [the archangel] to earth as a gemstone.  Adam (AS) carried the stone to Makkah and was in the corner of the Ka'bah when it was built.  That's why when we go to Makkah we confirm to him - the 'Black Stone' - the Meethaaq the covenant.

"What cause have ye why ye should not believe in Allah? And the Messenger invites you to believe in your Lord, and has indeed taken your Covenant, if ye are men of faith." 57:8
